Last period of the week, the Belarus-Lithuania border witnessed long waiting line of motors vehicles and trucks at the Kamenny Log-Medininkai area and Kotlovka-Lavoriskes. With passengers waiting for about 5 hours at the fence, one has to cross the territory after the clearing the transaction through the customs and boundary at the side of Belarus.

According to chief of the PRO, Lithuanian Border Agency, Giedrius Misutic, long waiting lines were formed at every main checking points of the Belarusian and Lithuanian border because hordes of visitors flocking to Lithuania. He said that the situation this weekend was out of control. There were long waiting lines at the way of entrance to Lithuania. Take for instance, on Saturday the checking area of the border at Benyakoni and Salcininkai facilitated near about three hundred motor trucks at once whereas its capacity is of two hundred. The checkpoint is considered to manage nine hundred motor vehicles per day. But on 28th April it fitted thousands of visitors on either side. Similar situation was seen at Lavoriskes-Kotlovka, claimed by a Lithuanian official.

The most important cause for bigger flow of vehicles this weekend is that Poland has of late lowered the count of heavy haulers capable of crossing the border. Besides that this country has lowered the quantity of fuel permissible for being taken across the boundary in fuel tanks. As a result several huge freight vehicles have been enforced to travel Poland through the Belarusian and Lithuanian border.

He has said so because of harassment by law enforcement agencies in Ukraine.    Lituanian Government has come up in the limelight because of this issue.

Shariy announced this to the Ukrainska Pravda online publication. He says that his life is in serious danger if he is sent back to Ukraine. He finds Lithuania safe and wants shelter there. He said that if he returns to Ukraine, he will be sent to prison. He stresses that he will ask for asylum in Lituania till the end.

He claimed that few months ago he went to Russia and then he travelled to the Netherlands, asking for asylum there. Nevertheless he had a Lithuanian visa in his passport, according to the Dublin agreement, therefore, the Dutch authorities sent him to Lithuania.

Two criminal cases were recorded against this Ukrainian Journalist Shariy in Ukraine itself, which he claims are fabricated. One of them is the case at McDonald’s. The fake case is over the shooting at McDonald’s where a man attacked his wife and behaved improperly. He was left fuming with anger. He received two bullets from a gun with rubber bullets and a light body injury, Shariy mentioned to the online publication.

Shariy said that the cases against him are not any coincidences. Earlier while he was investigating over the subject of illegal drug trade, he had invited the wrath of the people he was writing and investigating against. His life has been threatened from several sources. Therefore now he wants refuge from the Lituanian Government.
The Lithuanian Government has abstained itself from commenting anything on this issue.
